Siliguri (WB), Sept 15 (PTI) Making significant inroads in North Bengal, the TC-Congress alliance won 16 seats in the Siliguri Municipal election while the Left Front got only eight as per results of 24 seats declared till 1430 hours today.
The municipal board, having 47 members, was earlier with the Left Front. Counting for the remaining seats was on.
Of the 16 seats bagged by the Trinamool Congress-Congress combine, Trinamool got nine seats and the Congress six. Out of the eight seats bagged by the Left Front, CPI-M got six and RSP and Forward Bloc one each.
In the outgoing board, the Left Front had secured 36 seats, Trinamool Congress five, Congress four, BJP one and independent one.
