The Department of Lotteries was set up in 1967 with the objective of the resource mobilisation for the development of the state and as a measure to control the illegal private lotteries. Kerala lotteries rolls out six weekly lottery tickets and six bumper tickets. The weekly lotteries come out in three / five series while each bumper ticket comes out in five series. The weekly lotteries are Periyar, Haritha, Bhagyathara, Chaithanya, Kairali and Sowbhagya while the bumper lotteries are Vishu, Thiruvonam, Pooja, Christmas-New Year, Monsoon and Sabari.
